SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL ADVOCACY GROUP

The Sustainable Palm Oil Advocacy Group was established in 2022 as part of the Coalition for Sustainable Production. It is an alliance of civil society organizations committed to transforming Peru’s palm oil sector into a sustainable, deforestation-free business model by promoting more sustainable and inclusive practices throughout the supply chain.

OBJECTIVES

  • Facilitate the development of a pre-competitive agenda with representation from both the public and private sectors.
  • Articulate projects and programs as part of this pre-competitive agenda.
  • Develop a joint agenda with national, regional, and local governments to position oil palm as a strategic product in the national economy.
  • Promover el escalamiento de una producción de palma aceitera bajo principios de una agricultura regenerativa y baja en emisiones, a través de asistencia técnica y políticas públicas y privadas con este fin.
  • Formar capacidades y transferir herramientas y metodologías a equipos técnicos de la cadena de suministro.
  • Reconocer y difundir los avances del sector palmero, destacando el compromiso de todos los actores de la cadena de valor en la transición hacia la sostenibilidad.
  • Promover incentivos financieros y no financieros para una palmicultura sostenible.

HOW DO WE WORK?

Contribute to the establishment of policies and quantitative goals. for deforestation-free cocoa production and sourcing through the evaluation of private sector supply.

Mobilizing investments for the protection and restoration of forests linked to cocoa production areas.
Promote incentive mechanisms and commitments to small-scale producers.
Generate and transmit knowledge for the adoption of sustainable cocoa production practices and the technological development of the chain.
Promote policy instruments for a better business environment.
Create monitoring and traceability system pilots. in the cocoa chain for scaling up.
