The aim is to generate greater articulation on initiatives and projects of regenerative agriculture in the Peruvian context through the Coalition.

The recent knowledge exchange workshop on Regenerative Agriculture and Livestock, organized on September 24 within the framework of the Coalition for Sustainable Production, was a first opportunity to learn how different members and allies of the platform are conceptualizing the regenerative approach and the practical cases they have developed. During the event, there was a dialogue on the possibilities of developing a national definition of this approach to facilitate better articulation and synergies between public and private actors and civil society organizations.

More effective coordination of the principles and practices of the regenerative approach in Peru will contribute to scaling up actions, channeling greater financial resources and developing policies that drive the transition. This approach has become especially important given the urgent need for resilient agricultural systems in the Peruvian Amazon, considering the extreme droughts and burns that have occurred in recent years. Regenerative practices, among other impacts, help to reactivate biological functions and maintain soil moisture and agricultural and forestry systems.

The workshop was attended by more than 20 specialists and 10 organizations. The event was made possible thanks to the kind support of The Nature Conservancy, through its Future Landscapes project. It was also supported by organizations such as WWF, FAO, Rainforest Alliance, Alianza Ciat-Bioversity, Earthworm Foundation, Earth Innovation Institute, Helvetas, Solidaridad and Tropical Forest Alliance.
