Many companies have made commitments in their agroindustrial activities that contribute to environmental, social and economic sustainability, opting to use tools to monitor their activities and changes in forest cover. One of the most widely used platforms worldwide is Global Forest Watch Pro (GFW Pro)The geospatial information can be managed by
easily, connecting users with supply chains to quantify and manage progress towards meeting deforestation-free production commitments.
Within this context, the Alliance of Bioversity International - CIAT, under the framework of the project "Business models to address the drivers of deforestation in Peru - Sustainable Amazon Businesses (SAB) together with the Coalition for Sustainable Production has seen fit to develop this Technical Guide. Use and application of GFW Pro, and make it available to the different companies and associations of the agricultural sector in the Peruvian Amazon committed to environmental sustainability, so that they can use the GFW Pro platform to efficiently monitor and manage their activities. In addition, this guide is part of the instruments that companies in the agricultural sector in the Peruvian Amazon must have in preparation for international regulations on deforestation-free production. Especially the recent regulation of the European Union (EUDR) that prohibits the import of raw materials and derived products associated with deforestation and forest degradation and establishes as a mandatory requirement the georeference of the place where the raw materials have been produced and the monitoring of coverage.
