Neshuya jurisdictional initiative is consolidated under the leadership of the District Municipality of Neshuya, Ucayali.

United actors in the district of Neshuya, Ucayali-Peru, were able to build a shared vision, led by the District Municipality of Neshuya with the support of the Neshuya Jurisdiction Driving Group, formed by Earthworm Foundation (EF), Earth Innovation Institute (EII), Bioversity International Alliance and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA), Solidaridad and The Nature Conservancy (TNC). The aim of this initiative is to achieve a low deforestation risk jurisdiction, and therefore responsible sourcing, for the cocoa and oil palm chains, among others, in a context of regulatory adjustments in consumer countries (e.g. the European Union Regulation against Deforestation, EUDR).

As next steps, the presentation to the Municipal Environmental Commission (CAM) was agreed upon, which will be strengthened with the support of the Regional Environmental Authority of the Regional Government of Ucayali. The vision and action plan will be presented as local public policy in the "Estrategia Local de Desarrollo Rural Bajo en Emisiones de Neshuya" (Local Strategy for Low Emission Rural Development in Neshuya). In addition, they will be presented in public-private platforms to mobilize public, private and cooperation financing; and work will be done to coordinate actions between the public and private sectors and civil society organizations, including the Grupo Impulsor.

This workshop was an activity supported in part by the Climate-Landscape Project funded by @Nestlé and led by the Earthworm Foundation, the Future Landscapes Project, led by the Conservancy, and with the contribution of Amazon Connectan initiative of USAID, Solidaridad, Earth Innovation Institute, National Wildlife Federation and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In collaboration with USAID's Amazon Regional Environmental Program, producers, companies, local governments and financial institutions, Amazon Connect promotes and scales the adoption of low-carbon agriculture and sustainable commodity production in Brazil, Colombia and Peru.
