Bioversity International Alliance CIAT presents, in the framework of the Coalition for Sustainable Production, a key study on deforestation risk analysis in the cocoa supply chain

The Bioversity International CIAT AllianceThe Coalition for Sustainable Production, within the framework of the Coalition for Sustainable Production, presents a study entitled "Methodology to perform deforestation risk analysis after December 31, 2020, taking into account the European Regulation 1115 of 2023 for the cocoa production chain.". This analysis is crucial for companies in the cocoa sector seeking to comply with European Regulation 2023/1115, the new European Union (EU) regulation that will come into force in December 2024 for large and medium-sized companies.

The study provides a methodology for assessing deforestation risks in cocoa supply chains. In a context of increasing pressure from consumers and regulators, meeting deforestation-free production standards is not only a legal obligation for some markets, but also an opportunity to strengthen environmental and social practices in the supply chain.

Why should your company be interested? If you are part of the cocoa supply chain, this study will provide you with information to comply with the EUDR. The key steps of the study include the review of geospatial information, diagnosis of risk areas and the construction of a deforestation baseline, among others.

Access the complete study here and find out how to implement this methodology to ensure that your cocoa supply chain complies with EUDR requirements.
