On April 25, 26, 27 and 29, the District Municipality of Neshuya, companies, producer organizations and non-governmental organizations developed a shared vision and action plan for jurisdictional sustainability from the agricultural value chains of this district. This activity was part of the Neshuya Jurisdictional Initiative led by the District Municipality of Neshuya and with strategic allies: Earthworm Foundation (EF), Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA), Bioversity International CIAT Alliance through the CGIAR Initiative in Agroecology and Earth Innovation Institute (EII) and Solidaridad, participating through the Climate-Landscapes Project and Amazon Connect.
The workshop allowed:
- Develop and validate instruments and processes to build a shared vision of Neshuya for the future, under the landscape approach.
- Build a participatory roadmap focused on 4 Pillars: Environmental, Socioeconomic, Productive and Governance, to prioritize activities in the landscape and the implementation of the Local Low Emission Rural Development Strategy of Neshuya.
- Consolidate a multi-stakeholder platform that will enable landscape planning, investments and monitoring.
- Develop tools to organize stakeholders to ensure a significant supply of cocoa, palm, sustainable livestock and other value chains in the district.
The activities are carried out under a jurisdictional approach taking into account the characteristics and needs of the area, its prioritized value chains and stakeholders. It is expected that the results of this workshop will be used to develop a consensus roadmap and the Local Strategy for Low Emission Rural Development in Neshuya, which will be presented to the Municipal Council in order to prioritize public investment at the district level.
This workshop was an activity supported in part by the Climate-Landscape Project funded by @Nestlé, and Amazonía Connect, an initiative of @USAID, #Nestlé, #AmazoniaConnect #AREP #CeroDeforestation #P5TELDRBE #Neshuya
