MIDAGRI conducts training in the use of the Digital Identity application with the support of members of the Cocoa, Forests and Diversity Agreement to promote georeferencing.

  • 48 extensionists and field promoters from producer organizations, the public sector and civil society were trained in the use of the new mobile application ".Digital Identity".
  • This application allows quick and easy plotting of plot polygons (georeferencing), so that deforestation-free certificates can be generated in the near future, a key requirement for the new European Union regulation on deforestation.

On April 29 and 30, a training session was held for technicians and agricultural specialists belonging to institutions and cooperatives of Aguaytia, Ucayali, on the use of the application Digital Identity of the Agricultural Producer for the EUDR adequacy process.

The event was attended by 48 extensionists and field technicians from various public sector organizations, civil society and producers' associations, who were trained by representatives of MIDAGRI (Oscar Gutiérrez, National Coordinator of the Agricultural Producers' Registry in DGESEP; José Freddi and Glenda Valdivia from the Business Intelligence Unit in DGESEP of MIDAGRI). Both days were also supported by Solidaridad, Earth Innovation Institute and Tropical Forest Alliance, as well as the active participation and support of the National Commission for Development and Life Without Drugs (DEVIDA).

Those who want to take advantage of this digital tool must first be registered in MIDAGRI's Register of Agricultural Producers. The training was important to reduce the digital divide in the agricultural sector (generated by the lack of access to fast equipment and networks, and insufficient digital literacy). The training was aimed at building the capacity of field extensionists so that they have the capacity to replicate it with producers and thus reduce the digital divide.
