The Coffee Agreement
and Forests
The objective of this agreement is to develop the differentiation of Peruvian coffee based on the origin, quality and sustainability of the production chain, allowing for better living conditions for producers, conservation and restoration of forests, seeking its positioning in international markets.

The technical secretariat will rotate, for a period of two years, among the signatory entities.
COMMITMENTS
From the private sector:
- Analyze their coffee supply chains and establish policies and actions to be taken to move towards a deforestation-free coffee supply.
- Promote sustainable production and restoration of degraded areas, in or near production areas, in accordance with the legal framework.
- Provide adequate and transparent information to facilitate the monitoring of the progress of the commitments established in this agreement.
From the public sector and civil society organizations:
- Facilitate investments for the protection and restoration of forests linked to coffee production, seeking to increase productivity and competitiveness of the product.
- To contribute to the positioning of the concept of sustainable quality coffee both in producers and in the national market.
- Collaborate in the generation, identification and transmission of knowledge related to the practice of sustainable production and technological development of the chain.
- Create policies and tools that generate the necessary conditions in the sector for sustainable development with an emphasis on deforestation-free production.
- Develop a monitoring and traceability system for the coffee production chain.
